The crap AI video bollocks aside, KDE all day long!
A. When I install Linux for family and friends. I installed both The GNOME Desktop Environment and The KDE / Plasma Desktop Environment.
B. I’ve found that some KDE / Plasma applications don’t work well under The GNOME Desktop Environment.
C. For maximum software compatibility I install both Desktop Environments.
D. Does anyone else install both The GNOME Desktop Environment and The KDE / Plasma Desktop Environment on the same Linux installation? If YES. Please leave a reply to this list of comments explaining why you install both Desktop Environments on the same Linux installation.
Wish there would be something less ressource hungry for X11 and Wayland on 2 in 1 touchscreen devices.
The best thing about the whole video is the fact that the AI voice pronounces GNOME properly!
Who prefers Gnome’s file manager to KDE Plasma’s Dolphin, or the Gnome pdf viewer to Plasma’s Okular must have a superficial interaction with that computer.
In KDE you can do whatever you want, like me with 4 panel in desktop lol
W KDE
[ Gnome Of course ]
Gnome is macos and kde is windows for me i use both side by side
KDE Plasma seems to me much more intuitive because of its default Windows-like layout and more powerful because is so customizable and because it has so many features.
I very much like Gnome’s workflow over Plasma’s workflow BUT … GNOME’s biggest failure is not allowing the user to chose his own default terminal for usage across the entire system, i mean i know that Gnome is all about not customizing and using the out of the box experience, but come on? forcing a user to use a specific terminal is …. beyond stupid, especially when the terminal is sub-pair in features to things like kitty, so yesterday i deleted gnome and went to Plasma 🙂
should have included XFCE too
Based on my experience in over a year of testing the KDE Plasma desktop environment on Big Linux and KDE Neon as my daily drive in both 2023 Acer Aspire 7 with AMD Ryzen 7 & Nividia GTX 1650 and 2010 HP15 AMD 5200 & Radeon GPU laptops. All of the functions keys and features run without any issues. While in my Edubuntu & Ubuntu running in Gnome desktop environment in the same laptops 2023 and 2010. The Gnome function keys and features are not functioning properly ot sometimes no function at all. Gnome have the most number of crushing. While KDE plasma ones or two times only for over a year. I hope Gnome could fix this issue as soon.
